Gov. Bill Weld to Go Bird Watching in Randolph, NH

(Randolph, NH) – Former Massachusetts Governor and Republican presidential candidate Bill Weld will visit the Randolph Community Forest and nearby Durand Lake Recreation Area for a bird walk and conversation about environmental policy with local conservationists. RSVP HERE.

WHAT:  The bird walk with Gov. Weld is being hosted by Primary Feathers—an entirely volunteer effort to get every presidential candidate to go bird watching while in the Granite State.  The walks are an opportunity for candidates and conservation-minded voters to share their views on environmental policy while admiring New Hampshire’s birds, wildlife, and scenery.  The 10,000-acre Randolph Community Forest in the heart of the White Mountains was chosen as the location of this walk because it is one of New Hampshire’s biggest local conservation success stories.  The area was conserved as a result of dedicated individuals, nonprofit organizations, and elected officials working in close partnership at all levels of government.

WHEN:  Sunday, July 21, 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

WHERE:

Randolph, NH at the Community Forest Interpretive Trail (8:00 – 9:00 a.m.)

Trailhead located at end of Randolph Hill Road. Find Randolph Hill Road on Google Maps HERE. Continue all the way to the end of the road until you reach a cul de sac, parking area, and large trailhead sign. Don’t be confused by any of the more subtle signage for other trails along the way.

Randolph, NH at Durand Lake Recreational Area (9:00 – 10:00 a.m.)

Near mile marker 19.4 on US Route 2.  Clay tennis courts can be seen from the road, and the Recreation Area can be accessed via a gated road that will be open and marked with red, white, and blue balloons.  Find Durand Lake on Google Maps HERE.

WHO:  Gov. Bill Weld and nature enthusiasts from throughout NH.
